About the product
Bitumen is the residue of vacuum distillation of crude oil: a black, viscous binder that holds aggregates together in hot-mix asphalt and seals structures against water. Its quality and use are defined by grade, and each grade is controlled by standard tests (penetration, softening point, ductility, flash point, solubility and loss on heating).
Bitumen grade families
| Family | Examples | Main use |
|---|---|---|
| Penetration | 40/50, 60/70, 85/100, 100/120 | road asphalt; the region’s most common export grades |
| Viscosity (VG) | VG-10, VG-20, VG-30, VG-40 | road construction in markets such as India |
| Performance (PG) | PG 64-22, PG 70-10 and others | asphalt design by regional temperature (Superpave) |
| Oxidised / blown | 85/25, 90/15, 115/15 | waterproofing, roofing, pipe coating, industrial uses |
| Polymer-modified (PMB) | with SBS, EVA, crumb rubber | heavy-traffic asphalt and modified membranes |
| Cutbacks and emulsions | MC-70, MC-250; CRS, CSS, CMS | prime and tack coats, cold-mix asphalt |
What an inquiry specifies
- Grade and reference standard (ASTM D946, AASHTO M20 or M226, EN 12591, ASTM D312 for oxidised bitumen)
- Penetration at 25 °C, softening point, ductility, flash point, solubility in trichloroethylene (min. 99%), loss on heating, specific gravity
- Packaging and quantity: number of drums or bulk tonnage
Usual packaging and transport
New 180 kg steel drums (about 110 drums, roughly 20 t, per 20-foot container); 1 t jumbo bags or polybags for penetration grades; bulk in bitutainers, ISO tanks, heated tankers or vessels. Bitumen is loaded hot; for bulk, delivery temperature and discharge facilities at destination matter.
Our grades
To be completed: List the bitumen grades you supply (penetration, viscosity, performance, polymer-modified) with the reference standard for each.
Our packaging and delivery
To be completed: List packaging (bulk, drums, jumbo bags), minimum order and delivery terms.
